Backyard Butterflies

Grade Levels: 1-4

Months: September, May, June

Time: 2 hours

Description:
Students will conduct experiments to investigate the different stages of the life cycle of the butterfly.  Hands-on activities using caterpillars, butterflies and the chrysalis will allow students to understand each stage of development.  A visit to our butterfly garden is included. We recommend this field trip to be scheduled at the conclusion of a unit of study.

Cost: $9.00 per student

Backyard Butterflies Materials


Fascinating Frogs

Grade Levels: 1-4

Months: March, April, May, 

Time: 2 hours

Description:
Students will investigate the different stages of the life cycle of the frog.  We will visit our pond to observe frogs and look for frog eggs, so please dress accordingly.  Frog eggs may also be purchased for classroom observation.

Cost: $9.00 per student

Egg to Chicken

Grade Levels: 1-4

Months: March, April, May                                    

Time: 1 1/2 hours

Description:
Students will investigate the different stages of the life cycle of the chicken.  This trip includes observations of eggs in incubators, chicks hatching, one-day-old chicks, pullets, laying hens and roosters.  We rent incubators and sell hatching eggs to teachers for classroom observations. Please contact us by February for rentals!

Egg To Chicken Materials


How Does A Garden Grow?

Grade Levels: K-4

Months: April, May, June                                      

Time: 2 hours

Description:
Students will investigate how soil is formed through decomposition by observing a natural compost pile. Germination, pollination and fruit production will be explored using different types of plants.  Students will be working with dirt, so be sure to dress for gardening!
