All About Apples

Grade Levels: Preschool - Kindergarten

Months Available:  September, October   

Duration: 1 1/2 - 2 hours

Description:
Students will be introduced to our apple orchard and observe trees (and their apples) growing in their natural environment. Through guided discovery activities, students will compare and contrast different types of apples and further investigate the inner workings of the apple to aid in their understanding of the life cycle. Additionally, students are invited to take home their seed discoveries to grow their very own apple trees! 

Basic needs of trees, the life cycle, parts and functions of the apple tree will be addressed.

Finish off the trip with an authentic hayride and farm tour to visit our animals!

Cost: $8.00 per student

All About Apples Materials


Johnny Appleseed and the
Life Cycle of the Apple Tree

Grade Levels: 1-4

Months Available: September

Duration: 1 1/2 - 2 hours                                       

Description:
Students will develop an understanding for the contributions that John Chapman (Johnny Appleseed) made in the westward expansion of our country.  Students will be introduced to our apple orchard and observe apples growing in their natural environment.  Hands-on apple experiments will futher facilitate student understanding of the basic needs, the life cycle and the functional parts of an apple/apple tree. 

Finish off the trip with an authentic hayride and farm tour to visit the animals!

Cost: $8.00 per student

Johnny Appleseed Materials


All About Pumpkins

Grade Levels: Preschool 

Months Available: October                

Duration: 1 1/2 hours

Description:
Students will learn about the life cycle of the pumpkin, be able to identify parts of the pumpkin and gain an understanding of the basic needs of the pumpkin plant. Students will also visit our pumpkin patch to observe pumpkins growing in their natural environment (weather permitting). Students will be able to identify a healthy pumpkin and understand the various uses of the plant.

Baby Bear pumpkins are available for students to pick themselves and take home, but must be requested in advance to ensure that we are able to accommodate the numbers.  

Finish off the trip with an authentic hayride and farm tour to visit the animals!

Cost: $9.00 per student without pumpkins

          $10.00 per student with pumpkins

Pumpkin Fest 

Grade Levels: K-4

Months Available:  October

Duration: 2 hours

Description:
Students will conduct thought-provoking and FUN math and science experiments using pumpkins. Important math skills such as measurement, weight, counting, grouping, predicting and estimating will be utilized as students discover more about the math and science behind pumpkins.

Field trip concludes with a hayride tour of the farm and a visit to see our farm animals!

Description:
Students will learn about the life cycle and basic needs of turkeys. Through observation of farm turkeys, students will compare and contrast domestic and wild turkeys.

Changing Seasons

Grade Levels:  K - 5

Duration: 2 hours

Description:
This activity is designed to help students discover the seasonal changes that occur between summer and autumn.  We will cover reasons for seasons, changes in weather, the color change in leaves and how animals prepare for winter including migration, hibernation and adaptation.  This trip includes a scavenger hunt for signs of autumn.

Cost: $9.00 per student
